Picasso museum in Caldes d'Estrac

The Palau Foundation was opened in May 2003 with the aim of conserving and exhibiting Josep Palau i Fabre's art and documentary collection and enabling it to reach a wider audience.

Josep Palau i Fabre is regarded as one of the world's leading experts on the life and work of Pablo Picasso, of whom he was also a personal friend.
Poet, playwright, short-story writer and essayist, Palau i Fabre is one of the major figures of Catalan literature of our times, acclaimed for connecting Catalan culture with the most important artistic movements of the 20th century thanks to his relationships with luminaries such as Picasso, Artaud, Octavio Paz, Cocteau and Lorca.
The Palau Foundation boasts a permanent exhibition of some of Picasso’s art, including a room dedicated entirely to Picasso. Here, apart from examining the artist’s genius through his use of different techniques, we can also see the friendship that the two maintained for many years.
The permanent collection also includes a large room covering the whole spectrum of Catalan art during the 20th century along with a room dedicated to contemporary artists.
The Palau Foundation houses a significant documentary and bibliographical collection on Picasso directed at national and international audiences. The Foundation also organises temporary exhibitions, talks and other cultural events around different methods of artistic creation - modelling, theatre or poetry.
